Resources are currently being prepared for the introduction of the third edition of the Roman Missal. As we make preparations to receive the new translation of the Roman Missal in our parishes, it may be helpful to look at exactly what changes will be made to the prayers we have come to know so well.

Timeline for Introduction of the New Missal


June 2011


Introductory meetings looking at available materials to prepare for the revised translation of the Roman Missal. These meetings are intended for Parish Priests and those who are involved in parish life (for example, members of the PPC and liturgy group). They will focus on the resources available to help in the preparation for the new translation. Meetings will begin at 7.30 p.m. at the following venues:


Our Lady of Good Counsel, Dennistoun on Monday 13th June,
St. Gregory’s, Wyndford on Tuesday 14th June,
St. Stephen’s, Dalmuir on Wednesday 15th June,
Our Lady of Consolation, Govanhill on Monday 20th June and
Holy Family & St. Ninian’s, Kirkintilloch on Wednesday 22nd June.


September onwards

Use of Order of Mass using new translation at Mass
Extended Catechesis on Mass and translation
In-service day for primary school head teachers


October 

In-service days for clergy (10th & 19th)

In-service day for primary school head teachers
In-service day for Secondary schools

Week beginning 24th October: new Missals should arrive in parishes during this week.

There are a variety of settings already available for the new translation. Firstly, the chants that appear in the missal itself are here for you to listen to and get to know. Many other composers have revised present settings or written new ones. Below is merely a sample of what is available:
