Praying the Mass
The Liturgy Commission of the Archdiocese of Westminster have produced a resource called "Praying the Mass" which serves as a useful reminder that we are called to PRAY the Mass. There is an introduction and 5 sessions which help participants to reflect on their participation at Mass. This resource may be useful for parishes.
Resources for ministry
The website, romanmissalscotland contains guidelines and suggestions for a variety of ministries which concern the celebration of Mass and people's participation at Mass. Below are a few aids which may be of use to those catechists who lead the children's Liturgy of the Word, those involved in preparing music to engage the assembly and those who prepare the Prayer of the Faithful.

The book of Blessings contains a ritual for blessing those exercise pastoral ministry. This may be used for the blessing of, for example, those who (after a time of preparation) become readers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, altar servers, etc.

Music for celebration

Musicians have a crucial role in liturgy and have the potential to engage people in worship. When we gather to celebrate Mass, we gather to pray and music chosen should draw people into that prayer.
The document, 'singing at Mass' (above) serves as a guideline for musicians and those choosing appropriate music for celebration.
The Archdiocesan committee for music in the liturgy provide resources to help those engaged in music ministry and offer regular workshops. Check the website for regular updates!
Musicians have an important role in the revised translation of the Roman Missal: the acclamations of the Mass should be sung, and so musicians have the opportunity to take a lead in teaching people these sung responses. It may take a little time to begin to use a new Mass setting, but it's worth the effort. Even with the present Missal, we should sing acclamations that are faithful to the text!
A few examples of new or revised settings are available to listen to and some free assembly downloads are available for use. These can be accessed below:
OCP (Oregon Catholic Press)
GIA Music
More information will also appear soon on the St. Mungo Music website.
Some resources are also available to support the singing of the liturgical chants for Mass. These are available at:

Sacraments and sacramentals

The Church is always joyful to celebrate Christian Marriage. In the Archdiocese of Glasgow, it is expected that couples preparing for Marriage take part in a preparatory course. Priests or deacons preparing couples for Marriage should automatically enrol them for the course with the Pastoral Office.
In the celebration of Christian Marriage, the liturgy is the principal focus. Couples are encouraged to be involved in preparing the liturgy and doing so to the best of the resources available to them within the parish. In order to prepare well for the celebration, guidelines are given to help in this preparation.

In the celebration of a Christian funeral, we celebrate the rites to offer worship, praise and thanksgiving to God for the gift of a life which has now been returned to God, the author of life. The Christian community prays for the person who has died asking for the forgiveness of sin and the gift of everlasting life. Such a celebration in the context of the worshipping community brings consolation to the bereaved through the witness to Christian hope in the resurrection.
Guidelines are provided to help priests, deacons and families involved in preparing to celebrate the Christian funeral with care and respect to the Church's liturgy and indeed to the Christian who has died.
